The day you met her, you literally thanked the hands of fate that sent her your way. She was sweet, respectful and best of all, great with kids. A God-send you might say. As you got busier at work, you were consoled by the fact that there was a very competent person at home handling things.

And she was "handling” things alright! You realised you didn’t have to lift a finger as she did everything from house chores to picking up the kids from school to making the family dinner, something you rarely participated in because of all the late nights at work.

Until one day – and it will never make sense how it started – you found out that the girl whose naivety you admired was not only being referred to as "mummy” by your own kids, she was also "caring” for your husband in ways you never anticipated.

In this week’s lead story, we take a look at maids who literally take over homes. Religious leaders tell us that infidelity will always be a sin but for some women, to cheat with the maid is a much more spiteful crime. Turn to pages 18 and 19 for more.
