National football league (today)

Kiyovu vs Police 3:30pm Sunrise vs Marines 3:30pm Police will be hoping to return back to winning ways in this afternoon’s league encounter against Kiyovu at Mumena stadium.

Cassa Mbungo

The law enforcers suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Gicumbi in their last league tie. The loss pushed Police behind league leaders APR by 11 points. However, Coach Cassa Mbungo is adamant that the gap is not insurmountable.

"Everything is possible in football, we have been inconsistent because the club lost many players last season but if we win our games in hand, we shall cut the lead at the top and who knows what will happen next,” Mbungo said adding that the team’s winning run starts in today’s game.

In their last ten meetings, Police have won six matches, while Kiyovu have won three with both sides drawing once.

Police thrashed Kiyovu 5-0 last year at Kicukiro in the first half of the league campaign and irate Kiyovu fans called for the sacking of Coach Ali Bizimungu.

Police captain Jacques Tuyisenge netted a hat-trick in that match.

Elsewhere, Sunrise who host Marines FC in Rwamagana will be looking to reign over the Rubavu-based side after beating them 1-0 in the first-leg match at Umuganda stadium in Rubavu district.

Meanwhile the Police - AS Kigali clash that was moved due to heavy rains on Sunday will now take place on February 27 at Kigali regional stadium.
