NOMINATIONS forartistes to take part in this year’s Primus GumaGuma Superstar season 5 were conducted on Monday. Only entertainment journalists, radio and TV presenters, music producers, and artistes’ managers took part in the nominations at Wax Club, shortly after a press conference held at the Bralirwa offices. Bralirwa are the sponsors of the annual event which will run until August.

This year’s competition will have two additional road shows compared to last year’s 15.  The added districts include Karongi and Rukomo to make it 17 road shows for this year.

The requirements for an artiste to qualify also changed. For any artiste to participate in this year’s edition, they must at least have released one song and a video in 2014.

The artiste must also have at least a total of five known audio songs recorded between 2011 and 2013 and must also have released at least three video clips within the same period.

When asked about the new criteria, the senior brand manager of Primus, Sam Mpendo said:

"We want to boost the Rwandan music from the bottom to the top and that’s why the criteria had to change.”

The first elimination show to select the 10 finalists who will compete for the Rwf24m prize will be held at Expo Grounds on March 7.
