Most of the people injured in the Kigali-bound Trinity bus on Thursday night have been discharged from Mulago Hospital in Kampala and are expected back home shortly.

Only one Rwandan, Jennifer Kobusinge, and a DR Congo national, Itaramya Mazambi, were by yesterday still being treated at Uganda’s main referral hospital.  

Three Rwandans, including the driver of the ill-fated bus, died on the spot while 15 others sustained injuries when the bus owned by Kigali-based Trinity Coaches hit a truck carrying electricity poles at Buwama, in Uganda’s central district of Mpigi.

"I am recovering well. My only worry is that I have no clothes; all my belongings got lost in the accident. I hope Trinity will help me recover my property,” Kobusinge who is nursing a broken leg said.

Meddie Kangave, an official of the bus company in Kampala, said that 10 passengers were discharged on arrival on Friday to the hospital while three were handed a clean bill of health yesterday.

"We have already arranged for transport for them to return home. We are doing our best to serve all those affected by that accident,” Kangave said.

Meanwhile, the bodies of Jacques Habiyambere, the driver of the ill-fated bus; passengers Eteline Uwamahoro and Magnifique Kubwimana arrived in the country yesterday for burial, relatives said.
