When Lionel Karangwa, aka Lil G, started singing, there was only one thing he wanted. The rapper told his parents that the thing that would make him truly happy was if he owned a recording studio. And luck came his way.

At only 20, Lil G is already a household name in the music industry. He is set to launch his recording studio, High Level Records, located in Nyamirambo this month.

"I’m so excited about this achievement. I want the launch to be a blast. Not just a simple function but a mega celebration,” said Lil G.

He added: "I’m waiting for all these major events taking place this month, for example the Miss Rwanda beauty pageant and others that could overshadow the inauguration of my music studio, to end and I set the date for the launch.”

Lil G told The New Times that he invested Rwf25million to put up his studio, with support of his parents.

"My wonderful parents realised my passion early and I’m so thankful that they have been supportive of me. When I told them that I wanted to own a recording studio, they contributed 25 per cent and I contributed the rest,” said Lil G.

The Agaciro singer bought the audio machines from Uganda and the video equipment from Dubai.

Lil G started his music journey in 2007 and has never looked back. He boasts of songs such as Imbabazi, Akagozi, Nimba Umugabo and Nyegera Nseke, among others.
