Rayon Sports head coach Andy Magloire Mfutila has expressed interest in the vacant Amavubi Stars head coach job, Times Sport understands.

Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) is looking for a replacement for Stephens Constantine who resigned last month to coach the India national team.

Currently, Amavubi are under caretaker coach Lee Johnson, who also handles the U-17 side in addition to being Ferwafa technical director.

Congolese born Mfutila, who is yet to get a win with Rayon Sports having been on the touchline in nine matches since his arrival at the club in November last year, said he would do everything to raise the level of the national team and players if given the opportunity.

"I am ready to submit my application to Ferwafa, and I believe I can get the job, I have the capacity to change Amavubi fortunes because I have sufficient knowledge of Rwandan football and the people,” he said.

"I know I will face tough competition but that won’t stop me from applying and making myself ready (for the job),” he added.

The former APR head coach has previously coached DR Congo’s TP Mazembe, Vital Club, St Loi Lupopo and Don Bosco, as well as DR Congo national team.

Meanwhile, one man who has ruled himself out of the running for the Amavubi job is former head coach Eric Nshimiyimana, the AS Kigali coach.

"I will not apply for the Amavubi job, I am happy with my current job at AS Kigali and I am enjoying every minute,” the former Amavubi interim coach said.

The deadline for applications for the job of the Amavubi head coach is February 9.
