Speaking exclusively to Times Sport on Tuesday for the first time since his return to the country from a short stint in Albania, the former Rwanda international revealed that the Kenyan side want him on a shot deal. But he said he preferred a longer contract. "My agent is the one in contact with teams that are interested in me. At the moment Iam in Rwanda waiting for what comes out of the talks,” he added.

"I have been listening to reports that I am in Kenya but I am in Rwanda waiting for the right offer, my agent is doing everything to get me the right team,” he explained. The Uganda-born forward was recently linked to his former club SC Kiyovu, with whom he has been training since he returned from Albania nearly two weeks ago.

But he dismissed talk that he could end up signing for the club. "I’m training with Kiyovu only because they are closer to my home.” Kagere, 28, was released by KF Tirana earlier this month after just six months with the team.

Kagere had joined KF Tirana from Rayon Sports in July last year for $10, 000 (about Rwf7.5 million).

If the striker signs for Gor Mahia, he will follow former teammates, left back Abouba Sibomana, and right back Karim ‘Mackenzie’ Nizigiyimana, who joined the Kenyan giants, a fortnight ago, from Rayon Sports.

Kagere, with 26 caps for Amavubi and nine international goals, has also previously played for the defunct Atraco, Uganda’s Mbale Heroes and Masaka LC, as well as Tunisian side Esperance Sportive de Zarzis.
