The national sitball championship, organised by the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), is scheduled to start on February 21and run through June 7.

The development was confirmed on Tuesday by NPC president Celestin Nzeyimana in an exclusive interview with this newspaper.

"The sitball league will start on February 21 and will run for four months. We hope to have a more entertaining competition than last year because more teams have and are still registering to take part in the league.”

From February 21 to March 15, the league will be played under five zones, namely North, South, Eastern, Western and the City of Kigali, with the top two teams from each zone meeting up in the semi-finals, slated for May 16-17 in Rubavu District.

Finals will take place at Amahoro NPC gymnasium on June 6-7.

Gisagara and Gicumbi sitball clubs are the reigning champions in the men and women’s categories.
