In form Peter Agblevor was the hero of the day as his 51st minute strike proved to be a match winner for Musanze FC who beat Rayon Sports 1-0 in a crunch tie held at Ubworoherane Stadium on Sunday.

The Ghanaian punished the Blues with a second half goal that sent home supporters, and club management alike, in wild celebrations as their team moved back to the summit of the Primus National League table in grand style.

It was Musanze who started the match the better side as their attack led by Agblevor and Nicholas Ashade made incursions into their vital area.

Rayon were, however, resolute at the back as Isaac Mitima and Abdul Rwatubyaye did a yeoman's job with some excellent defending to keep the home side’s attack at bay.

At the other end, Blues’ attacker Musa Esenu had some decent chances that could have led to goals but he failed to convert them as the first half ended goalless.

Musanze made good use of their half time break talk, as they return in the second half attacking and increasing their momentum; and they finally scored in the 51st minute through Agblevor who registered his sixth goal in seven league games so far this season.

The Ghanaian, who is now leading the scoring charts, collected a pass in the Rayon vital area and fired past goalkeeper Simon Tamale to give Musanze FC a commanding lead and leave the visitors with a tough task to fight back if they were to return to Nzove with three crucial points.

Musanze FC coach Sosthene Habimana deployed more men forward as he looked to press for a second goal but Rayon were compact at the back and defended gallantly as the game ended 1-0.

In general, Rayon were looking a bit less aggressive without their star forward Joackiam Ojera who is sidelined through injury he picked during their game against Etoile de l’Est on Wednesday, October 11 at Kigali Pele Stadium.

The Ugandan did not travel with the team to Musanze and his absence was felt so much while new signing Kevin Muhire also watched the match from the stands despite training with the team on Friday after penning a short-term deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the season.

The Northern Province-based side now lead the table with 16 points, two points clear of APR FC who have played a game less.

Bigirimana’s late winner shocks AS Kigali

In a crunch encounter between Police FC and AS Kigali at the Kigali Pele Stadium, midfielder Abedi Bigirimana made the difference as his 94th minute winner separated the two sides in favor of Vincent Mashami’s side.

Elsewhere, at the Ngoma Stadium, Muhazi United FC picked their first win of the season with a deserved 1-0 win over Etoile de l&039;Est. Siaca Conte scored the lone goal in the 38th minute.
