The vibrant Uwase is also the host of School is Cool (a kids show) and Hirya no Hino (loosely translated as Here and there) on the same station. She spoke to Society Magazine’s Doreen Umutesi on why she doesn’t dress to impress.

How would you describe your dress sense?

I always dress according to my mood and the occasion and I always make sure I’m comfortable. But I always love complimenting my dress code with high heels.

What’s your favourite clothing item?

I love dresses. I feel very comfortable when I’m in a dress than any other kind of outfit.

Where do you shop for clothes?

I can’t say I have a specific place where I shop. I buy from different shops as long as they have what I want.

What do you consider when shopping clothes?

I don’t have a specific thing I look for when I’m shopping for clothes. When I see an outfit and I like it, I buy it.

What is your favourite fashion accessory?

I love jewelry. As the common saying goes, jewelry is every girl’s best friend.

What is your favourite clothing item on a guy?

A guy who wears a classy outfit is great to look at and it’s a bonus if he matches the outfit with the right kind of shoes.

What’s your favourite scent?

It has to be any perfume or deodorant with a vanilla scent.

What is the most expensive fashion accessory that you own?

The most expensive fashion accessory in my wardrobe is a pair of earrings that my aunt gave me for my birthday. They are really lovely. She bought them during a trip abroad.

Any fashion advice?

It is simple; people should wear what makes them feel comfortable. Never dress to impress.
