SOUTHERN PROVINCE

HUYE —
Sector and cell Executive Secretaries in the Huye district have received computers donated by the district.

The desktop and laptop computers worth Frw11.8m were handed over on Monday by the district Vice Mayor in charge of Finance and Economic Affairs, Ildefonse Gasana.

Handing out the computers, Gasana told the beneficiaries to put the machines to their intended use.

"The computers should be used as tools to facilitate your daily office work. Let them be accessible to other people especially members of cooperatives in your sectors and cells,” said Gasana.

Gasana said the donation was in line with government’s vision of having an ICT savvy populace in its development.

Of the 77 Cells of the district, only 26 received desktop computers while all the 14 Sector leaders received laptop computers.

According to Gasana plans are under way to provide them with internet modems.

"All Sector Executive Secretaries will be connected to the internet. This will facilitate quick filing of different reports required by different authorities and communication in general,” Gasana added.

The Vice Mayor added that all other cells would be given computers after they have acquired solar energy.

Ange Mazimphaka, the Executive Secretary of Maraba Sector, said the computers will greatly ease their work.

"Basic office work like writing reports, storing vital information and communication through the use of internet will be made possible because of these computers,” he said.
