Amavubi midfielder Mohamed ‘Meddy’ Mushimiyimana has started a professional career at Gyori Eto FC, a Hungarian Premier League side after signing one-year deal this week.

Mushimiyimana, 19, has been featuring for AS Kigali since 2012, from Sec Academy; he headed to Hungary last August where he has been undergoing trials.

"I have signed one year contract and with an option to extend it, I am happy and I’m ready do my best to show what I am capable of. This is a whole new challenge in my career. It’s a new chapter,” Mushimiyimana said.

The former U-17 national team midfielder played in Sec Academy before joining AS Kigali in 2012 and helped the City of Kigali-sponsored side to win the Peace Cup in the 2012/2013 season under coach Andre Cassa Mbungo.

He featured in the U-17 to U-20 teams, and received his first call-up to the senior Amavubi team for 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil qualifier against Benin last year under former coach Eric Nshimiyimana.

Gyori ETO FC founded in 1904, is best known for reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup semi-finals in 1965.

They won the Hungarian league title in 2012/13 season and finished second in the 2013/14 campaign, behind champions Debrecen, they are on ninth position in the current season.
