The Ministry of Education has cautioned school administrators against opening on unofficial dates.

According to a statement sent to The New Times yesterday, and signed by Olivier Rwamukwaya, the Minister of State in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education, primary and secondary schools that subscribe to the national curriculum and examination must not open before or later than January 26.

"That’s the date approved by the cabinet, and no institution should open on any other day unless they have permission from the ministry,” the statement read.

The warning comes following reports that some schools planned to open for the first term of 2015 tomorrow Monday 12, two weeks to the official date.
