The Christmas shopping experience

Sometimes it is best to tell the truth and act according to the size of your pocket. My girlfriend loves shopping and the whole semester, I promised her to go for shopping where she would not be limited by anything in the world apart from time.

When I said ‘anything’, I was definitely referring to money. Well, this got me in good terms with her especially when had I messed up a lot during the term.

Christmas was getting closer and she started to demand for the promise I made. I started panicking considering the fact that the only thing I had on me were debts. I had to do something to make it happen so I asked a friend of mine who owns a shop to let the girl take stuff like everything was fine.

I told her to pick anything she wanted and she did pick quite a number of things. This girl is really merciless. I pulled out my debit card and pretended to pay electronically. First of all, the machine didn’t work, and the card didn’t have money on it either.

My girlfriend smiled and everyone was happy. I had promised to pay my friend in the following days. But to cut the long story short, I am currently working in his shop for the next eight months without pay and no public holiday because I couldn’t pay him back.

Meanwhile other university students have taken shopping to another level. I understand one of the tailors in Nyamirambo resigned right after he got an order from one of the students. The quality of the material the student chose was okay but the colour was something else. The tailor couldn’t get it and went for early retirement instead.

Rumour has it that the piece of clothing that got the man puzzled was inspired by the coat of many colours that was made for Joseph in the Bible.

We are really going to suffer in January during the first days of class. We shall have a whole new other Christmas with everyone wearing their Christmas clothes. The worst thing for a student is to wear his best outfit on the first day and a number of students don’t show up.
