RWANDA has ranked 68th globally, moving a whopping 22 places in just one month, in the latest Fifa ranking released today.

This is the country’s highest ever ranking in world football, bettering the 78th position registered in 2008.

Amavubi, who held Morocco to a goalless draw in Marrakech last month, are ranked 19th on the African continent making Rwanda the highest ranked nation in the Cecafa region – both continentally and globally.

Rwanda is the biggest mover in the month of November on the Fifa ranking, going 22 places up from 90th position last month.

The monthly rankings are largely based on competitive and friendly international games that a country plays.

Uganda, which has led the Eastern Africa region over the last couple of years, is now behind Rwanda in second place – in 78th position globally and 20th in Africa. Other countries in the region rank as follows: Tanzania (105th), Sudan (110th), Ethiopia (111st), Kenya (116th), Burundi (127th), South Sudan (189th), Eritrea (202nd), Somalia (204th) and Djibouti (206th).

Algeria is the highest ranked African country in 18th, followed by Tunisia (22nd), Ivory Coast (28th), Senegal (35th), Ghana (37th) and Guinea (39th).
