Iyamuremye scoops regional music award

Serge Iyamuremye continues to excel in the regional Gospel music arena following his big win at the 2014 Xtreem Music Awards held in Kenya last Friday.

Iyamuremye bagged the award after winning the Rwanda Song/Artist of the Year category.

The awards aim at recognising, nurturing and awarding fresh talent in comedy, acts, music, dance and innovation in gospel ministries.

Speaking to The New Times, the overjoyed Iyamuremye, said: "I’m extremely happy for achieving something as a musician. I was up against other Rwandan artistes and I’m glad I was voted the winner.”

The Arampagije singer said such recognition shows how the Gospel music has grown from previous years. The other nominees from Rwanda were Bright Patrick Mugabo and Colombus Nduwayo.

Iyamuremye’ latest single Arampagije was nominated in two categories, Male Artiste of the Year and Best Video in the upcoming Groove Awards due to take place Sunday, December 21.
