The Government of Rwanda will cover the cost of returning the body of a Rwandan who died in a car accident in Texas.

Lynker Kabera, was killed in car wreck in Bedford, Texas on Sunday morning that left six Rwandans and one Burundian injured.   

This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Louise Mushikiwabo on her Twitter handle. 

"Gov of Rwanda will cover cost, in touch w, family in Kigali & Embassy personnel in Texas. It’s the least we can do!”, she tweeted yesterday. 

This announcement comes on the heels of a online fundraising campaign that was started by yesterday by the Rwandan community in Texas to raise $20,000 to transport her body back home. 

Those injured in the car wreck were Sandra Ineza Niyibizi, 21, a senior in a college in Maryland, who is reportedly in a coma; Marie Blanche Gahozo, a graduate of Buena Vista University (BVU); Cedric Somayire, 27, a student in Cedar Rapids, Iowa,  BVU graduate Ornella Mugabo, 22, Christelle Gihozo and Burundian, Bob Masunzu, 24.

The driver of the vehicle, Vivence Bugilimfura, 23, is to be charged with intoxication manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and intoxication assault.
