Gasigwa eyes Goma tennis open title

Jean Claude Gasigwa has vowed to showcase a stunning performance when he plays in the Goma tennis open slated to take place from December 20-28 at Hotel Karibu in Goma.

Gasigwa together with Mathew Uwizeyimana, Olivier Havugimana and Anatole Bizimana will represent Rwanda in the week-long tournament. The tournament will attract three countries including Burundi, Rwanda and DR Congo.

The 31-year-old has dominated Rwandan tennis for the past  five  years since the departure of Eric Hagerimana, Jean Paul Nshimiyimana in the US and Canada respectively in 2007.

Gasigwa has participated and won very many titles in the region including the Tanzania Open 2011, Uganda open 2012 and ITF man circuit in 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively.

He believes that based on his vast experience in regional competitions, he can challenge for the title.

"I have played before in such competitive games and I hope to continue doing so and my hope is to win the title in Goma,” vowed Rwanda’s number one.
