Residents of Ngoma District were treated to energetic performances at Kanyamashemba stadium as the Rise up Talent Awards came to an end on Saturday.

The singing talent search that started in October, this year, saw Kigali’s based Forever Gospel Fire crowned the overall champions—bagging a Rwf50,000 cash prize and a recording deal. Egide Tuyishime from Kirehe District emerged the second runner-up.

Contestants exhibited their rare dance strokes.

The Forever Gospel Fire duo of Jeremiah Mugabo and Patrick Augustin Berwa wowed the crowd with their own compositions of Naremeye, Amakuru, and Healed.  In yet another pleasant performance, Tuyishime proved he deserved the 2nd position, after delivering a brilliant performance and received a standing ovation from the excited audience.

The competition attracted both male and female aspiring musicians.

Joseph Bagabo, the managing director of Ruta Project, said the aim of the project is to showcase talent of young artists so that they can realise their dreams of stardom.

A contestant raps his way to the grand finale.

However, he noted that they faced many obstacles such as lack of adequate finances, getting suitable venues for our concerts.

The Ruta Awards grand finale was well attended.

The talent search was organised by creative for Africa.
