Twenty four hours of pizza and chicken in Nyarutarama

Chicken Inn and Pizza Inn opened its doors in March 2014 as the first specialised fast food outlet in Kigali. And like the name boldly states, they deal in chicken and pizza–two world-renown meals, in a fast food format.

Prior to this, getting pizza in Kigali was a bit of a trick, and one had two options from which to pick; the Kabana Club and Pizzeria, in Kacyiru, and the Italian pizzeria, Sol e Luna.

That said, it did not come as an entirely new brand, especially to people with a bit of exposure. Such people will attest to the fact that they had already seen a similar concept elsewhere, with international fast food chains like Kentucky Fried Chicken and Steers for chicken, and Dominoe’s, for Pizza.

The facility is located on the same building with the Woodlands Supermarket, in Nyarutarama.

Walking in, the first sight that awaits you is that of several neat piles of branded packaging boxes for the take-out service.

The Chicken Inn is the busier of the two sections, and here, they specialise in fresh and hot products served with speed, in true fast-food style.

The Chicken Inn serves strictly COB (chicken on bone) –basically chicken cut to pieces but with the bones left intact, as opposed to chicken fillet or steak. Cob –chicken on bone.

One piece goes for Rwf 1,600, five pieces 7,600, nine pieces 12, 400, while the 15-piece jumbo meal costs 18,800 and can serve the purpose of a small family feast.

They have something for the kids as well–the brat pack (burger, chips, and soda), all at Rwf 5,000, while a piece of chicken with chips is Rwf 3,000.

On our last visit to the place, management told us to look out for new additions on the menu early next year –things like chicken pops and wraps.

Pizza Inn

Here it’s all about pizza, and their variety ranges from the meat-based options like chicken pizza, and the meat deluxe –a pizza made from a combination of meats.

They have three Categories –regular, medium and large, which all generally hover between the Rwf 5,000-9000 mark.

The facility is open from 10:00am-midnight from Sunday to Thursday, but come Fridays and Saturday, they operate 24 hrs, thanks in part to a partnership with the K-Club, located upstairs of the building. On those days, clients are given the option of spending more than RW F 5,000 at the Inn, which guarantees free admission to the club.
