Rwanda has made great strides in its management of HIV/Aids and one of the few countries in the world likely to achieve most of the MDG targets by the 2015 deadline. Under MDG 6, towards an HIV-free generation, the government has been able to stabalize the national HIV prevalence rate at 3% from an estimated high of 6.9% in adults aged 15-49 years old. UNAIDS states that new HIV infections fell 60.3% and AIDS-related mortality fell 82.1% between 2000 and 2012.
