The theme of this year's events is ‘From peace in the homes to peace in the world: Let’s challenge militarism and end violence against women’.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence is an international campaign that starts on 25 November, The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and ends on 10 December, Human Rights Day.

Sing Yes to Kigali Safe City

As part of the day's events, youth will take part in the ‘Sing Yes to Kigali Safe City’ event, a singing competition that forms part of the Kigali Safe City Programme’s public awareness strategy. The competition will take place in Kimisagara sector this evening.

The singing competition asks youth to perform songs that challenge social norms that view sexual harassment and other forms of sexual violence against women and girls as a normal part of life.
