Patrick Sibomana and Maxime Sekamana netted for APR in either half as the army side defeated Mukura 2-0 yesterday at the Kigali regional stadium.

That the reigning league champions are missing seven players through injury did not stop Ljubomir Petrovic’s side from bagging maximum points that sent them top of the league standings with 20 points, three ahead of archrivals Rayon Sports.

"It was very important for us to win this game because it helps us to stay on top and that is what we want. We have to win our remaining five games in the first round so that we stay on track to retaining the league title,” Petrovic said.

APR remain the only unbeaten side in the National Football League and the Serbian tactician has revealed that this can be attributed to the good attitude displayed by his resilient players who are eyeing a record 15th league title.

Elsewhere, AS Kigali defeated Musanze 1-0 to move into third place as Police FC failed to win a sixth consecutive game piling pressure on coach Andre Cassa Mbungo.

The law enforcers move into sixth position on the table standings however Mbungo admitted that this is far from what he envisioned at the beginning of the season.

Two straight victories at the start of the season including a 5-0 humiliation of SC Kiyovu gave Police confidence but the results ever since have been a forgettable experience for Mbungo who hopes his side recovers from this nightmare very soon.

Newly promoted side Sunrise held hosts Etincelles 1-1 at the Umuganda stadium in Rubavu to register their fourth draw of the season. The Rwamagana-based side sits in eighth position with 10 points.
