BURUNDIAN tactician Godfrey Okoko is one of five coaches that are being lined up to replace Jean Baptiste Kayiranga, as Head coach of Mukura football club, Times Sport can exclusively reveal.

Kayiranga was sacked last week after a string of bad results. The Huye based club has just three points after losing four and drawing three of their last 7 matches.

The poor results has relegated the club to 13th position, one better than Isonga representing their worst start since the 2011/12 season.

Okoko who is currently the head coach at Musanze FC confirmed to this paper that he had held ‘positive’ talks with the club and has another meeting with club officials on Tuesday (tomorrow).

Mukura Secretary General Emmanuel Ntakirutimana, however refused to confirm or deny whether the club has contacted the Burundian coach.

"We have five candidates who we will interview for the job. I cannot tell you at the moment if he is one of them. However a decision will be made tomorrow by the executive committee,” Ntakirutimana said adding that they need an experienced coach who can bring glory back to the club.

Okoko is revered for his spectacular achievement in the 2011/2012 season that saw him guide Mukura from the relegation zone to league runners up, something that endeared him to the club fans.

Meanwhile, Ernest Sugira scored a brace as AS Kigali defeated Isonga 3-0 to hand the newcomers their third loss of the season yesterday in the National Football League at the Kigali regional stadium.

Sugira who is among 26 players called-up by Amavubi head coach Stephen Constantine was in fine form netting the opening goal before Hamdan Bariyanga added a second. Sugira then added a late goal to bag maximum points for Eric Nshimiyimana’s side.
