Two Rwandan Taekwondo players will travel to Edinburgh, Scotland on Tuesday to compete in this year’s Commonwealth Taekwondo Championship.

The competition is slated to take place on Saturday, November 15. Rwanda is making its maiden appearance in the event that is held after every four years.

Rwanda will be represented by U.S-based Eric Nkurunziza (middle weight) and Jean Basile Kalisa, who is based in Canada and will compete in the heavyweight category.

According to Martin Koonce the head coach, players have been preparing quite well with training instructions provided by Rwanda’s Taekwondo Federation.

"This trip is very important as we prepare for the next year’s World Taekwondo Championships in Russia and All African Games” he said adding that this will instill confidence in the players and the exposure to the competitive games.
