Mukura Football Club yesterday sacked Coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga following a string of poor results.

The Southern Province club is bottom of the league with just 2 points after losing 4 and drawing 2 of their last six games.

Olivier Nizeyimana, the Club Chairman, said that the coach has not only underperformed but has also created disharmony in the team after forming cliques.

"He has been giving us excuses that the team needs more players but we don’t buy that. This squad is good enough to beat teams like Marines,” Nizeyimana said claiming that the former Amavubi Assistant coach also favoured some players while sidelining others.

Mukura was defeated 1-0 by lowly Marines on Tuesday, their fourth loss in six games after defeats to Gicumbi, Kiyovu and Espoir.

According to Nizeyimana, the club will not rush to look for another coach because they feel Assistant Coach Canisius Nshimiyimana, a former player with the club who retired in 2010, is capable of doing a good job.

Kayiranga, who has previously coached Rayon Sports and Kiyovu, is one of the most experienced coaches in the country.

Meanwhile, Sunrise Football Club, who were promoted to the topflight division this season, also parted ways with Coach Gatera Moussa on Monday evening.

A club insider who did not want to reveal his identity because he is not allowed to speak for the club said that the coach fell out with the club management after they asked him to work closely with new technical director Jean-Marie Ntagwabira.

"The Club told him to work with the technical director in selecting a team for match days. The technical director is not a qualified coach, yet at the end of the day the coach takes responsibility for the team’s performance,” said the source.
