National U23 Coach Paul Bitok thinks his team will need to beat Northern countries: Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco if they are to be successful in the continental show piece that takes place next week in Egypt.

"North African countries are more experienced and Volleyball is a big sport over there. A lot of resources are invested in developing players and logistics. They are our major opponents,” Bitok said after yesterday’s evening.

"We are almost on same level with Libya and Botswana but Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco are the best teams in Africa but we will give our best to challenge them” he noted.

The teams will play a robin round competition and two finalists will represent Africa in the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championships 2015, which will be held in Brazil from October 6-13.

For Rwanda to qualify to the world cup, they need to win at least five games of their six games.

Meanwhile, Coach Bitok yesterday evening named the final twelve players that he will take to Egypt.

They are: Bonnie Mutabazi, Sylveste Ndayisabye, Peter Bigirimana, Placide Habarugira, Yves Mutabazi, skipper Aimable Mutuyima, Barrack Rugira, centers: Alfred Muvunyi, Fred Musoni, Frabrice Nkezabahizi, Nelson Murangwa and Samuel Niyogisubizo.
