Editor,

ONATRACOM is wastage of taxpayers’ money. As Rwandans, we need smart and sustainable businesses. It’s unfortunate that after many years as a monopoly of the transport business, Onatracom still runs on an outdated business model.

I do not see in why we should invest in weak companies with no hope.

The government should also study the option of subsidizing the private sector to service remote or less frequented routes instead of subsidizing Onatracom.

If the private sector is given an initial support, chances are they will quickly be able to maintain the service. Government should focus on its core role which is infrastructure development (roads).
