Karate team intensifies preps for World Championships

The National Karate team under coaches; Ruslan Adamov and Tamer Abdel-Raouf, has intensified preparations ahead of the World Karate Federation (WKF) Championships set for November5 to 9, in Bremen, Germany.

Unlike in the few days when the athletes had two short daily morning and evening sessions, the players now go through daily intensive three-hour sessions at Amahoro stadium.

Russian coach Adamov told this paper yesterday that the team is getting into the right shape needed to compete at the world level.

Meanwhile, the Rwanda Karate Fereration technical director, Guy Didier Rurangayire, said that the final team to represent Rwanda will be named on Tuesday next week.

"We are not yet sure how many players we will take due to budget constraints. However by Tuesday, we will have a clear idea,” Rurangayire said.

The players have been training under the supervision of head coach Adamov, who is being supported by Tamer Abdel-Raouf, a highly-rated Egyptian trainer.

Noel Nkuranyabahizi, Petit Ndushabandi, Christian Rurangayire, Laurent Barawigirira, Vanily Ngarambe (vice national team captain and captain of junior national team), Emery Ntungane Espoir, Rehema Kabera, Solange Gashagaza Ingabire, Eric Karegire, Elade Niyonsaba, Sakina Cyuzuzo, David Fils Niyongabo, Regis Katabarwa  and Guy Mutimawingabo.
