On Saturday evening all roads led to Kigali Serena Hotel for the much anticipated Explosion Concert organised by Alex Muyoboke, and well attended the artistes he has previously managed.

Gorgeous socialites and party animals in town came dressed to kill as they braced themselves for an evening of breath-taking performances from their favourite artistes.

The show kicked off with impressive opening acts from upcoming artistes such as Gaby Umutare and the promising Super Brothers, a duo which looks poised to break onto the local music scene with a bang, before fast rising star Social Mula hit the floor and thrilled fans who got up and danced to his popular songs such as 'Abanyakigali'.

In between the breaks, DJ Bissoso kept the party lively with an impressive mix of African music as the concert gathered tempo.

The evening then evolved into a night of fun as crowd moving performances metamorphosed, with the funky new girl group Charly and Nina proving to the audience that they are here to conquer the music stage.

It was now time for the musicians who were once managed by Muyoboke to hit the stage, with Tom Close taking the floor first.

The ‘Ihogoza’ singer, who was the first to be managed by Muyoboke, was followed by Dream Boys.

Also to move the crowd was Urban Boys, who were also at one point managed by Muyoboke.

They all put up exciting performances in what many saw as a good development, with all the artistes mentioned having separately fallen out with Muyoboke in the past.

Indeed this looked like a family affair of sorts.

It was then time for Big Farious from Burundi and Jackie Chandiru from Uganda to drive the concert in maximum gear.

Big Farious belted out some of the songs that have endeared him to the Rwandan audience such as ‘Ndakumusinga’, ‘Muyana’ and ‘Bajou’ among others.

Then it was Jackie’s turn, with the Ugandan songstress being joined by Urban Boys to perform their collabo ‘Take it off’.

Speaking to The New Times later, Jackie Chandiru expressed her love for Rwanda, stating that she always looks forward to performances down here.

"I love Rwanda and I feel welcome every time I come to perform here. I was contacted by Alex Muyoboke to come and be a part of this show and it was a pleasure to participate in this concert and entertain my Rwandan fans,” the ‘Gold Digger’ singer said.

Several musicians, including Knowless, Christopher, Senderi, Tino of TBB and the who’s who of the Rwandan showbiz industry attended in large numbers. Lauren Makuza, the in charge culture and sports, represented the Minister for Sports and Culture Joseph Habineza.

During the show, Muyoboke and his partner Theophile Twahirwa launched their management label known as Decent Entertainment, which will be promoting artistes and their products.
