The U23 Volleyball national team setter Ivan Nsabimana Mahoro will not feature in the African Volleyball Championships slated for November 5-13 in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt.

Coach Paul Bitok said the 20-year-old, who plays for Ural Federal University in Russia won’t be able to get the necessary travel documents in time for the tournament although Japan based Nelson Murangwa will join camp next week.

"We are starting intensive training today (yesterday) ahead of the Africa Championships and we will train two times a day. However, we will miss the service of Mahoro,” the Kenyan trainer said.

A provisional squad of 18 players started residential  training camp last evening. Bitok will name the final 12-player team on October 28 before travelling to Kenya for warm-up games.

The team is scheduled to have four warm-up games, starting on October 30 in Nairobi against Kenyan giants Prisons, GSU and Cooperative Bank before flying to Cairo for the final warm-up match against Egypt U23 side on November 3.

The two finalists at the continental championships will qualify to represent Africa in the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championships 2015, which will be hosted by Brazil from October 6-13.
