Rwandan Contingent in Burundi for Field Training Exercise

A Contingent composed of Rwanda Defence Forces, Police personnel and civilians are in Burundi to participate in the East African Community Field Training Exercise.

A Contingent composed of Rwanda Defence Forces, Police personnel and civilians are in Burundi to participate in the East African Community Field Training Exercise. The multidimensional military exercises codenamed "Ushirikiano Imara” is aimed at enhancing capacity of the EAC Partner States Armed Forces and key stakeholders to jointly plan and conduct operations necessary to respond to complex security challenges that affect the citizens of the region,” said the Exercise Director, Maj Gen Cyprien Hakiza. The Rwandan Contingent with other contingents from EAC member states arrived in Burundi, Mwaro military camp yesterday and was received by Maj Gen Hakiza who urged the participants to work hard for the success of the exercise.

"I request everybody to play his/her part to make this exercise a success, the success of every participant is the regional success,” stressed Gen Hakiza.

He wished the participants a warm welcome and stay in Burundi throughout the exercise. The official opening ceremony of the exercise "Ushirikiano Imara” is scheduled on October, 17, 2014 in Mwaro Military Camp, 65 kilometers from Bujumbura, the Capital of the Republic of Burundi.
