Kigali Golf Club member Davis Kashaka returned 34 stable ford points to claim the top prize at the 3rd edition of the Uganda Independence Day golf tourney held at Palm Valley Golf Course in Kakungulu Estates in Kampala.

Playing off handicap 2, Kashakas’ experience prevailed as he beat over 100 golfers to the top prizes of a 39 inch full HD LED flat screen, a 140 liter refrigerator, garden chairs and a trophy.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Kashaka said, "It was all about composure. I decided just to keep the ball on the fairway and prayed that I get pars on hole-number 1 and 10 which I achieved, actually they were the only pars I got in the entire game.”

The former Kigali Golf Club captain dedicated the trophy to his late mum who passed on two weeks ago.

Over 180 golfers braved the early morning down pour to take part in the one-day event that followed the earlier two day’s professionals’ action.

Entebbe Club based Pro golfer, Vicent Byamukama won the professionals’ event to bag Ugshs 12m prize staked by the sponsors.
