Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) are investigating the cause of death of a Gasabo couple found lifeless at their home in Agatare Village, Gasharu Cell, Kinyinya Sector.

RNP Spokesperson Boniface Rutikanga told The New Times that police got to know the news in the morning hours of Monday, October 2.

"Police at the district received information from local leaders that Janvier Nzabarinda, 48, was found hanging on a rope (dead) inside his own residence,” Rutikanga said.

Nzabarinda’s wife Claudine Muteteri, also 48, was found lying on the floor, dead, with wounds on her neck and back.

It is suspected that Nzabarinda committed suicide after killing his wife. The couple was not officially married but were living together.

Investigations are continuing to establish the cause of their death.

"Police and RIB are doing whatever it takes to deploy forensic resources to do further investigations,” Rutikanga said.
