Gicumbi FC head coach Emmanuel Ruremesha is in a buoyant mood ahead of the upcoming season, which will start in two weeks’ time.

The Gicumbi District-sponsored side will kick off their campaign at home against title hopefuls Police FC on October 18 before travelling to Huye for the midweek clash against Mukura VC.

"In terms of preparations, I think we are ready for the start of the season, and we want to challenge for the top position this season,” former Mukura, Espoir coach said on Thursday.

He added, "I am convinced this team (Gicumbi) has the potential to finish in the top half of the table every season.”

Last season, they finished in ninth position under Kayiranga, who joined Mukura Victory Sports this season but Ruremesha believes the team, which has been very busy in the transfer window, will finish the forthcoming season in a higher position.

Among Ruremesha’s new signings are Ugandan strikers Mustafa Kasolo from Kenya’s Sofapaka and Ahmed Umar from Karuturi Sports (Kenya).

"Everyone wants to win the league title and we also want to do so but you have to start slowly and make sure that your team can compete with the big teams. That is when you can start dreaming of winning the league title,” he noted.
