Loca; Tennis stars are gearing up for the inaugural Bralirwa Open scheduled for October 3 to 5 in Rubavu District, Western Province.

The three-day competition includes two categories namely; men’s professional and men’s amateurs.

There is no women’s category, according to organisers.

Among the top players expected to compete for the title include the top four ranked players; Jean Claude Gasigwa, Dieudonne Habiyambere, Mathieu Uwizeyimana and Oliver Havugimana.

Speaking to Times Sport from Rubavu, seed three Uwizeyimana said his target is to win the tournament though he admits it’s going to be tough against the higher ranked and more experienced rivals.

"I’m training hard because I want to win the competition but I am aware of the fact that I will face stiff challenge from other players,” said the youngster, who won this year’s Liberation Day tournament three months ago.

The Inaugural Bralirwa Open will bring together players from different clubs including; Nyarutarama Tennis club, Remera, Cercle Sportif de Kigali and Rubavu respectively.
