The Minister for Local Government, Francis Kaboneka, urged leaders of the entities affiliated to the ministry to focus on citizens’ satisfaction while executing their duties.

Kaboneka made the remarks Monday in Kigali during the signing of the 2014/2015 performance contracts (Imihigo) for ministry staff and affiliated agencies in Kigali on Monday.

The agencies include, National Itorero Commission, Media High Council, Rwanda Broadcasting Agency, and the Fund for the Support of Genocide survivors (FARG).

Other agencies include, Rwanda Governance Board, the National Identification Agency, Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission, National Council of Persons with Disabilities, and Rwanda Local Development Support Fund.

"I want to remind you that the citizen report card will always reflect the rate at which citizens appreciate the impact of Imihigo (performance contract). You might not be able to give everything to the person who comes to you (for a specific service), but the way you receive them will determine how they appreciate your service,” he said.

"What citizens want is listening to them and advising them accordingly. I challenge you to aim higher in your performance and make citizens happy. Good governance is our responsibility,” he said.

Kaboneka also said achieving development targets will require institutions to focus on clean audit and be accountable in all their duties.

" Lets ensure clean audit in whatever we do and see to it that the Auditor General’s report for this year reflects good governance and accountability,” he added.
