PROFESSIONAL GOLFER Emmanuel Ruterana has ruled out taking part in the KCB Golf Tour Series final and instead opted to compete at the 17th JBG Golf Tournament set to tee off on October 4 at the par 71 Entebbe lake side greens.

Ruterana will face stiff competition from 20 other professionals for the Ugx 10m (Approx. Rwf2.6m) prize money as over 200 amateurs are expected to compete in the tournament.

Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Ruterana said that he has ruled out participating in the 2014 KCB Golf Tour series finale set for this weekend in Mombasa due to personal reasons.

"I have personal issues that I am attending to thus I won’t have time to compete in the Kenya Golf Tour Series finale. I am now focused on the upcoming JBG Golf tournament due in Entebbe. It’s a good tournament which attracts elite golfers and the competition is always good and at a high level,” Ruterana said.

The JBG tournament is a major event on the club calendar and it has become more popular with increasing numbers of participants and competition.

Ruterana, who finished 14th in the Tusker Malt Uganda Open Golf Championship early last month, is leaving nothing to chance in his bid to have a strong showing at the upcoming regional tournament.

The mode of play will be stableford with a full handicap, but with a cut off after day one and a variety of players are expected to come from Kampala, Arua, Jinja, Toro, Kasese, Fortportal, Mbarara and the home grown products of Entebbe.

The other professionals expected are; Vincent Byamukama, Saidi Atibu, Said Mawa, Amos Kamya, Grace Ocici, Geofrey Mande, Herman Mutawe, Denis Anguyo, Brian Mwesigwa, Geogre Oloya and a host of others.
