APR Volleyball Club coach Sammy Mulinge has hailed his side after winning the Carréd’As tournament on Sunday.

The army side dominated their rivals Rayon Sports and INATEK to complete a double of titles thanks to outstanding performances from players like Aimable Mutuyimana, Flavier Ndamukunda, Bonny Mutabazi, Bosco Mutabazi Mbonyijuru and Mathieu Rwanyonga.

APR won the final after beating INATEK 3-0.

Mulinge said: "We are the 2014 league champions and champions of Carré d’As tournament, this is something special to be proud of and I would like to thank everyone, who contributed to these achievements.”

Mulinge’s team beat Kigali Volleyball Club, INATEK and Rayon Sports 3-0 respectively in the robin round matches on Saturday while INATEK managed to reach the final after beating Rayon Sports 3-0 and KVC 3-1. Rayon Sports beat KVC 3-0.

In the women category, Jean Luc Ndayikengurikiye’s Rwanda Revenue Authority also completed a league and cup double after winning all their round robin matches and also beat APR in the final.

Both APR (men) and RRA (women) walked away with Rwf700, 000—Rwf500, 000 and Rwf250, 000 for winning the league and Carré d’As tournament respectively. Rayon Sports took Rwf500,000—Rwf350, 000 for finishing second in the league and Rwf150, 000 for third place in Carré d’As.
