AMAVUBI CAPTAIN Haruna Niyonzima is confident his Tanzanian side Yanga will bounce back to win this season’s Vodacom Premier League, which kicks off today.

The manner in which Yanga saw off reigning champions Azam FC in the Community Shield last weekend has given them belief that the Marcio Maximo’s men can last the distance through to May 2015. Yanga won 3-0.

Yanga, who won the league in 2013, bolstered their squad with signings of star names in Brazilians Geilson Santos and midfielder Andrew Coutinho.

Speaking to Tanzanian media, Haruna said, "Attacking-wise, this season we are going to be more different and we are going to have more of a fear because we have very good players.”

The Rwanda international prays that their victory over Azam FC on Sunday should not cause complacency to get in their heads.

"Beating Azam boosted our confidence ahead of the league kickoff, but we shouldn’t be complacent because that was just a curtain-raiser,” he said.

The Jangwani Street heavyweights travel to Morogoro for their Vodacom Premier League opening match against Mtibwa Sugar on Saturday.

"Our match against Mtibwa Sugar will be tough and we will try to beat them at their backyard, so it is important for us to play well as a team,” noted the former APR playmaker.
