Kigali face Entebbe in 2nd leg golf challenge

Kigali Golf Club is set to face their Entebbe counterparts in the second leg of the annual golf challenge to be played on Saturday in Uganda. 

The Kigali Golf Club captain Anthony Olwit confirmed the development to Times Sport yesterday.

He said: "We will be playing the second leg against Entebbe golf club after hosting them in Kigali in February. Our preparations are in final stages.”

"The aim of this challenge is to enhance the relationship that exists between the two golf clubs and the two countries,” added Olwit.

Kigali golf club won the first leg which was played at the par-18 Kigali golf course in Nyarutarama with a total of 716 net, while the visitors completed with a net score of 807.

The Kigali team entered a team of 40 players including five ladies. The visitors fielded 35 golfers including three ladies and Maxi Byenkya won the overall ladies trophy with a net score of 76.

Entebbe club had previously won last year’s edition second leg. Kigali now leads 2-1 having also won the inaugural event in 2012.

The host club’s Taylor Koonce, who was playing on Group 2 and Lee Kang in Group 3, had the best score in the first leg of 68 Nett each, while Innocent Rutamu won Group 1 with 75 net.
