Tour of Rwanda will be more competitive - Bayingana

The 6th edition of the Tour of Rwanda will be one of the most competitive races ever held on Rwandan soil. The Rwanda Cycling Federation chairman, Aimable Bayingana has, said.

The 6th edition of the Tour of Rwanda will be one of the most competitive races ever held on Rwandan soil. The Rwanda Cycling Federation chairman, Aimable Bayingana has, said. 

Bayingana has also predicted that Team Rwanda will put on a breath taking performance following their tremendous improvement over the years.

"Our riders have been doing well. They have improved a lot and this time, we believe they will do much better compared to last year,” Bayingana said.

A total of 16 teams from around the world will vie in this year’s Tour du Rwanda cycling race from November 16-23. The tour will cover 911.6 km in eight days.

Rwandan teams include Team Akagera, Team Karisimbi and Team Muhabura and each will be comprised of five riders.

Teams which will be making their debuts include Bike Aid (Germany), Loup Sport (Suisse) And Scody Downunder (Australia).

The Tour of Rwanda has made important progress and has been instrumental in promoting the image of Rwanda and local talent through cycling.

"We are developing the sport by giving Rwandans and African riders an opportunity to showcase their skills,”

Tour of Rwanda has been a stepping stone for a number of young riders,” added Bayingana.

The tour of Rwanda will cover seven stages including the new routes of Kigali Amahoro Stadium to Ngoma District (94 kilometres) and Rubavu to Nyanza district which is dubbed the most grueling route covering 173km.
