Right Guard batted first and made 255 runs all out in 49.5 overs thanks to a strong partnership between Audifax Byiringiro and team captain Eric Dusingizimana, which produced 83 runs.

Byiringiro was Right Guards top scorer with 40 runs. The pick of the bowlers were Jean Claude Siboniyo who took three wickets for 37 runs in 7 overs and Eugene Haragirimana, who also picked three wickets for 40 runs in 8 overs.

In reply, Challengers Cricket Club could only manage 174 runs all out in 35.1 overs with Subhasis Samal making 41 runs. Emmanuel Mugabe was the best player of the day after making 39 runs, 1 wicket and 1 catch.

Despite the defeat, Challengers captain Srinath Vardhineni said; "This is only the first match and a lot more games are going to be played, so we hope to work hard and win the next games.”
