Beijing gets ready for Paralympics Games

BEIJING Olympic Games Organizing Committee (BOCOG) has urged staff members to undergo careful preparations for the Paralympics Games set for September 6-17 in China.

According to the Paralympics Games official website, the Bocog president made the remarks during the mobilization meeting held in Beijing on Tuesday.

Bocog staff members who were encouraged by the success of the Beijing Olympic Games were asked to work hard to carry out various tasks in the transition period between the Olympics and Paralympics, including the Paralympics torch relay, the Paralympics opening and closing ceremonies and the reception of the members of the Paralympics family.

Other participants expected at the Paralympics Games include security and media services, athletes from around the world, and other people with disabilities.

The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) will be among the participants in the two-week long Games.

The NPC Chef de mission Celestin Nzeyimana leaves for Beijing tomorrow, while the rest of the team will depart next Wednesday.

2004 bronze medalist Jean de Dieu Nkundabera will lead Rwanda’s assault in the Games.
