We have substandard cables on the market

Editor,

The commission did a good job but I did not see where substandard electrical materials are mentioned.

Some cables are cheap but their quality is doubtful. And once on the market customers who are not technicians will go for price instead of quality. I know that some transformers used on our new distribution lines are really substandard. The list would be long. Look at the wooden poles of these lines. How many years do you give them?

Is RBS really looking into this? We need to ensure standards.  Yes, we are paying less but we shall bear the consequences.

If we are not careful, these fires are going to be on the increase, and again we shall wrongly blame the Fire Brigade for not responding quickly.
