The DR Congo-born Buzangu also retained the league’s top-scorer award with a total of 519 points.

Speaking to Times Sport after receiving his two awards, Buzangu, who crossed from Espoir to CSK this season, said, "I’m happy for the awards, but I’m a bit surprised to win the MVP (award).”

"Thanks to my teammates, coaches, basketball federation and friends, who supported and made me, believe I can go beyond my own expectations,” Buzangu added.

In the women’s category, Rwanda Allied Peace for Progress (RAPP) captain Rosine Micomyiza was named MVP, while Ubumwe basketball club’s small forward Priscillah Dodo claimed the top-scorer award with a total of 216 points on her name.

IPRC- Kigali’s youngster Steven Havugintwari clinched the men’s league Most Improved Player award, while Emelyse Gihozo of RAPP won the women’s accolade.

The awarding ceremony was held at Amahoro indoor stadium and was preceded by a game between the league and playoffs champions Espoir BC and the national team. The national team won 73-61.
