During the just concluded Primus Guma Guma Super Star competition, Arthur Nkusi featured several times as a Master of ceremonies.

The celebrated MC and comedian has a dress sense which rarely goes unnoticed because it is hard not to take notice of him and his signature hair style, a rugged afro. In an interview with Collins Mwai, he gives insights into his dress sense.

How would you describe your dress sense?

Fitting. I am a guy who loves fitting attire, fitting pants, fitting tops, fitting jackets. I also tend to balance between corporate and casual. I mix them up for comfort and easy mobility.

What do you consider before picking what to wear?

It depends on where I am going. If it is a corporate event, I will look the part. In my kind of business, we sell ourselves and image matters. I try as much as possible to blend with the kind of audience I am standing in front of.What style or clothing items do you think men should avoid forever?Figure hugging outfits in men is becoming too common on these streets. Even guys who do not look good in them are doing it too. Tight clothes have lost their relevance.Where do you shop?

I have a designer, he brings me stuff from abroad, especially jackets and shoes. Other times I go to the market to look for clothing items I am interested in.Do you think it is possible to look trendy in second hand clothing items?Of course yes. It doesn’t matter where you get your clothes, the thing with style is that it is not what you wear, it is how you wear it. Some people think that if they wear clothes from fancy labels like Gucci, it is enough to make them look good which is not the case.Your afro is quite something, how do you style it?It is just African hair; I do not go to the salon to style it. I just don’t comb my hair. I wash it and add avocado oil and that’s it. Once in a while I comb it, or when I want to have a corporate look. Your thoughts on accessoriesI am not a ‘bling’ guy. On ordinary days I have only a watch on. When I go for accessories, they are African made accessories, mostly bracelets. What clothing items or accessories do you think every guy should have?

Nice shoes. For me my dress code is determined by the shoes I intend to wear. It is the one thing that stands out in a guy.Speaking of shoes, do you have a bias for any kind of shoes? Since I like fitting pants, you will mostly find me in sneakers. Lately I have taken a liking to Air Max.
