Rwanda’s national rugby team has pulled out of this year’s Safaricom sevens tournament scheduled for September 26-29 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The president of the Rwanda Rugby federation Adams Juma Mugabo said the team withdrew because of lack of funds to facilitate the team’s trip and stay in Nairobi.

He said: "It’s unfortunate that we have to withdraw from the Safaricom tournament due to financial constraints.”

"Every international tournament you participate in, you get experience, which is good for a country like Rwanda which is still growing in the sport,” Juma noted. However, he confirmed that the U-19 will make the trip.
