MISS RWANDA 2014, Colombe Akiwacu, flew out of the country on Wednesday evening aboard Kenya Airways on a Simba Supermarket sponsored tour of Europe.

The trip is part of the perks that came with her crowning at the beginning of the year. Speaking to The New Times before departure, Colombe said she is excited that this promise had finally been fulfilled.

Akiwacu travelled with her advisor, Ishimwe Dieudonne.  Ishimwe said Miss Rwanda will visit different places in France and Spain.

"I shall be visiting Rwandans in France to discuss how we can work together on different projects that can contribute to our country’s development,” Akiwacu revealed.

The beauty Queen will visit Paris in France before heading to Valencia and Barcelona in Spain.

Gatali Vital, the beauty queen’s father, was at the airport to see his daughter off. "I am so excited because the promise made to my daughter has been fulfilled. I wish her a safe journey and I hope she will be a good ambassador to our country,” he said.

"I heard about her woes of unfulfilled promises after winning the competition but I never followed it up. This is my first time to see her in person and I’m very excited. I can’t wait to tell my wife about it,” said a security guard at the airport.

Akiwacu is expected back on September 6 after her 12 days trip.
