A serving Rwanda Defence Forces officer has been arrested over suspected involvement in crimes against state security, The New Times has learned.

Col. Tom Byabagamba was arrested on Saturday as part of investigations into the case involving two retired army officers who were arrested earlier in the week, officials said.

Also in detention are retired Brig. Gen. Frank Rusagara, who was arrested on Monday, and Capt. (rtd) David Kabuye, who was apprehended on Wednesday.

Byabagamba, who had just returned from a tour of duty in South Sudan, was arrested on Saturday and is being interrogated in relation with the ongoing investigation, Defence and Military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Joseph Nzabamwita said yesterday.
